Saturday 25th June 2016
Sadly, I'm announcing the closure of this website on around the 24th or so of July.  I've not had any sight of any of the books that were sent out for some months now, and I'm sadly forced to assume that all of them are missing or lost in one way or another.  It was always a bit of a long shot to imagine that a journal could travel from person to person, being filled in along the way, and then make it back to me, but I felt that it was worth trying.  I've had great fun running the project, and to everyone that donated and took part, thank you sincerely.
If I do get any updates on the books I'll be mentioning them on my blog and YouTube channel, and some of the content on this site I'll also host over on my blog.
Thanks again :)

Things have been quiet on the website, mainly because sight of the books has been rare, but I'm pleased to spot book 18 in Chicago - but where are the rest of them?  If you get your hands on one, let me know - and make sure to pass it on, it needs to complete its journey!

I've done a little update on the books on my blog, after hearing that book 18 is going to Portland in Oregon - they're still on the move!  Free giveaway also on my blog until Monday 20th, for a free travelling book!  http://thoggy.blogspot.co.uk/2015/03/travelling-book-update.html

The travelling books are continuing to travel, I've just heard that book 20 (#tbook20) is on it's way to Talahina in Oklahoma!  Remember if you get a book to let us know so we can keep track!

After our participation in Hull College's Freshers Fair, here's a special offer for students across the world - instead of the normal donation of £12 to reserve your own travelling book, make a donation (via the PayPal link at the bottom of the page) of just £5 and you will receive your own travelling book to start it off on its journey!  Also, catch the update on Mike's blog with photos of our book in Ohio!

We happily took part in Hull College's Further Education Fresher Fair today, it was really good and met loads of people interested in the project!  Head over to Mike's blog to see our... unique... clothes horse presentation stand!  All in all it was a great day and we're very much looking forward to going back on the 17th of September for the Higher Education Fresher Fair too!

Sunday 7th September 2014

Well, all the initial run of books have now been sent out, with many of them starting to move from person to person!  If you've got a book, don't forget to let me know whereabouts in the world your book is!

Now for the exciting stuff - I've been invited to take part in Hull College's 2014 Fresher Fair on Thursday the 11th of September, and Wednesday the 17th of September!  All the fun is going on in Queens Gardens in Hull, more details can be found at http://www.hcsu.co.uk/lite/events-2/ and I will be putting on some special offers at the fair for people interested in the Travelling Book Project.  Fancy winning a free Travelling Book?  Taking part in a travelling book at the Freshers Fair?  Or supporting the project by reserving a book at a reduced price?  Get over to Queens Gardens in Hull, apparently there will be a huge marquee, which we will be in!

Things have moved on swiftly with the project and I'm pleased to be able to say that the first batch of books are in the wild, with a second batch due to be mailed out at the end of this week.  If you're a recipient of a book do tweet about it, each book has a unique hashtag at the front of the book, and feel free to say hi on the forums!

I'm also pleased to be able to announce that I will be having a stall at the Hull College Freshers Fair on the 11th and 17th of September 2014, so if you're in Hull on those days do stop by and say hi!

Well, the funding campaign has finished, I'm extremely pleased to say that we've raised enough money to keep this website up and running for 2 years, plus we're going to be sending out around 25 travelling books around the world!  I am furiously working on preparing all the books to be sent out, as things stand I have five books on my desk prepared, with a huge pile still to go out.  I'm hoping to get the books sent out in 2-3 weeks, but if anyone that is receiving one needs it before then, do let me know.

Friday 31st July 2014

I was very fortunate to be interviewed on air by David Reeves on BBC Radio Humberside today about the Travelling Book project.  If you'd like to catch it, it is on air for 7 days at
http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p023wd8d - select the show from the 31st of July, and I'm on from about 2 hours 35 minutes in.  The team at BBC Radio Humberside have also taken on the mantle of receiving the very first Travelling Book, which was delivered into their hands while I was there.  I look forward to seeing its travels!

I also need to give thanks to Luke at Hull College Student Union, who has taken the time to not only plaster flyers about the project around Hull College, but also to improve my somewhat substandard flyer before doing so!  Thanks Luke.

If you'd like to donate to the project there is still time, but not a great deal as the Indiegogo campaign ends on Monday - please help us out!

Friday 25th July 2014

Our website for the Travelling Book Project is live!  Thanks to the funders that made it possible, and as things stand we are currently a third of the way towards our funding target of £500, having raised over £150 already.  We have 10 days to go until the campaign ends on August 4th 2014, so find out more about the project on this website, and if you'd like to
support us please don't hesitate to do so!
